Thanksgiving & Black Friday

We shared this Thanksgiving with my Mom's family. The whole family met up in Irving where my aunt lives. The traffic on Wednesday was a nightmare and I don't recommend traveling long distances while pregnant (I lost count of the number of times we had to stop for restroom breaks.) Thanksgiving Day was filled with good food, karaoke, and Wii Guitar Hero. It is not that often that we are able to all be together, but when we do, we always have a blast! Travis and I have many blessings to be thankful for this year; the Church, our family and friends, our health and happiness, and most of all, our little blessing on the way.

While the rest of our family slept in, Travis and I woke up at 4:30 a.m. to brave the crowds on Black Friday. We scored some major deals at Academy, Circuit City, Radio Shack & Game Stop to mention a few. We were all done by 8:30 a.m. due to Travis's strategic planning.

In the afternoon, the whole family went to the Gaylord Texan to check out the ICE! exhibit and Lone Star Christmas. The ice sculptures were magnificent. There were ice tunnels and bridges, an ice gingerbread house, and many other Christmas sculptures all made of clear, frosted, and colored ice. Heavy parkas kept us warm inside the chilly 9*F ice walls. Karla, Kerry, and Travis slid down the huge ice reindeer slide. My favorite sculpture was the nativity scene. By the end, we were all filled with the Christmas Spirit and in awe of how something as simple as ice can be transformed into the detailed and intricate sculptures we saw before us.

The Lone Star Christmas decorations were also very beautiful and included a very tall, revolving Christmas tree, a life-size gingerbread house made with real gingerbread cookies, and too many other cool things to list.

El Paso

We spent the past weekend visiting with some of Travis's family in El Paso. Our plane had to abort landing due to high winds, but successfully landed on the second try. The weekend was full of good Mexican food and delightful company.

Travis and Bridget exploring the native flora at the bottom of the mountains. The plant behind us is called an Ocotillo and has thorny spikes all over it. Rescued cacti are also saved and transplanted here from housing developments or construction sites. In the spring, poppies fill the field behind us.

It's a Boy!!!

Sonogram says....it's a boy!!! After waiting for over 2 hours to see the doc, we finally found out that we are expecting a boy.
